Fire breaks out in Yekaterinburg apartment building, man's fate unclear

On the evening of February 1, a fire broke out in an apartment building on Gurzufskaya Street.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was in an apartment on the ninth floor. Neighbors say that a lonely man named Leonid lives there.

«His wife and dog died. He lives alone. He drinks a bit and collects trash,» said a resident.

At the time of the fire, the man was in the apartment. At the time of writing, his condition remained unclear.

«I know the owner. It»s unclear if he will survive. Firefighters couldn«t get to him; they were breaking down the door. An ambulance and seven fire trucks arrived,» an eyewitness said.

The victim is 60-70 years old. The source of the fire was in his room.

Earlier in the Urals, a man and a woman burned alive in their house. Their bodies were found under the rubble.
