Fire breaks out in apartment in central Volgograd

The fire occurred on the evening of January 21 in the Central District of Volgograd. According to local residents, the blaze started in an apartment of the five-story building No. 16 on Sovetskaya Street.
Witnesses captured the incident on video. The footage shows smoke pouring from the balcony of an apartment located on the top floor of the building. At least three fire crews arrived at the scene.
“Sovetskaya, 16, fire on the balcony. No one is home, the neighbors called the firefighters. It seems there were no casualties, an ambulance didn«t come, and residents weren»t evacuated,” local residents reported.
The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for the Volgograd Region provided official information. “At 18:58, a report of a fire in the Central District was received. At 11 Chuykova Street, household items on a balcony burned over an area of 1 square meter. Fire units of the 3rd Fire and Rescue Station eliminated the fire at 19:05. There were no fatalities or injuries,” the department specified.
Earlier, Volgograd also recorded calls to emergency services. In the Sovetsky District, on 35th Gvardeyskaya Street, a report of a fire turned out to be false. The following day in the Krasnoarmeysky District, a fire broke out in an apartment of a nine-story building on Udmurtskaya Street, leading to the evacuation of 35 people. That incident also resulted in no casualties or injuries.
