Fire at St. Petersburg Lyceum Interrupts Lessons

Classes at Lyceum No. 344 in the southeast of St. Petersburg were disrupted due to a fire that occurred on January 27. The evacuation process of schoolchildren was observed from the windows of nearby houses.

Twenty firefighters responded to the incident and managed to put out the fire in under 45 minutes.

As reported by the City Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a call about the fire at 47 Telman Street was received by the duty officer around 12:30 p.m. The source was found on the second floor of the three-story building.

In video recordings published by eyewitnesses, it is visible how students and staff leave the building while black smoke spreads through the corridors.

According to rescuers, the fire damaged furnishings over an area of three square meters. Twenty firefighters were involved in extinguishing the blaze, who managed to put it out by 1:15 p.m. No fatalities or injuries were recorded as a result of the incident.

The day before, on January 26, firefighters« assistance was required at a lyceum in the Avtovo district. There, a fire in a basement room led to the evacuation of over 600 people.
