Father tells how he dropped newborn from fourth floor

The baby«s father told how he dropped his newborn daughter from the fourth floor. The emergency occurred in Asbest on the night of January 24. The apartment right below the one where the couple lives with their young child was on fire.

According to Anton, his daughter was already asleep when he and his wife smelled burning. The man tried to go out into the corridor, but the entire stairwell was already filled with smoke. He and his wife opened the window, but instead of fresh air, smoke also rushed into the apartment.

«I understood there would be no other way, there was very heavy smoke, we ourselves were barely breathing, we soaked rags in the snow on the windowsill and put them to our faces, and if we did that to the child, she would get frostbite,» the girl’s father said.

Anton saw two men below and asked them to catch the child. There was nothing at hand that could replace a rescue sheet. So they caught the girl just with their hands.

«If there hadn»t been people, I would have jumped myself and asked my wife to drop the child, because there was no other choice. I was saving her life first and foremost and understood that this was the only right decision,« says Anton.

The parents were led out of the smoke-filled apartment by firefighters.

Now the baby girl is in the hospital with her mother. After an examination, doctors found no injuries or fractures, but decided to play it safe and observe her for several days. The girl«s family is grateful to the men who helped save her. Unfortunately, the couple does not know their names.
