The court has sanctioned the arrest of a 40-year-old man accused of violating traffic rules, which led to the death of his 17-year-old son. The accident occurred on the evening of 21 January on the Chelyabinsk–Troitsk highway.

The investigation has established that while driving a Toyota Carina, the accused switched to the left lane to make a U-turn without ensuring it was safe. This created an obstacle for a Lada Vesta that was following, leading to a collision.

The man has been charged under the article on traffic rule violations resulting in death. The aggravating circumstance is that he did not have a driver«s license.

The criminal case is being investigated under part 4, clause «v» of Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code. This provision stipulates a punishment of five to twelve years in prison.

The accused does not admit guilt in the accident. He refused to give testimony and asked the court not to place him in a pre-trial detention center, instead choosing house arrest as a preventive measure.

“I do not agree with the preventive measure. I request house arrest. I pledge to comply strictly with everything,” the driver stated during the court hearing.

Previously, this man had already faced criminal charges for driving a car while intoxicated and without a license.
