Fatal Workplace Accident in Krasnoturyinsk

In Krasnoturyinsk (Sverdlovsk Oblast), a fatal accident occurred. On July 16, on the premises of UralMontazhServis, a 60-year-old worker climbed onto the roof of a KAMAZ truck, but slipped and fell headfirst onto the concrete surface.

The regional prosecutor«s office clarified that the victim suffered a severe combined trauma — a fracture of the cranial vault and base. He was urgently taken to a local hospital, but could not be saved: the man died.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for violation of labor safety requirements resulting in death. The prosecutor«s office is reviewing the organization»s documentation to determine the employer«s degree of fault.

Such tragedies in production are not uncommon. Earlier in Nizhny Tagil, a gas worker died in an explosion at a plant, and his mother received a large compensation. And in Kamensk-Uralsky, a worker«s family won more than six million rubles (over $66,700 at current rates) for the death of the breadwinner, who died after the floor collapsed under him and his limb was crushed by heavy stamps.
