Fatal accident on Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway

Another fatal road accident occurred on the evening of January 28 on the federal highway Tyumen — Tobolsk — Khanty-Mansiysk near Nefteyugansk. As reported by the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug State Traffic Inspectorate, the accident happened around 17:10 at kilometer 665 of the highway in the Nefteyugansky District. According to preliminary information, a 55-year-old driver of a KamAZ truck entered the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a cargo Gazelle van. The 49-year-old driver of the van died at the scene before medics arrived.

Earlier, statistics on accidents on federal highways in the region were published. According to this data, the most dangerous road in the Tyumen Region is the highway to Khanty-Mansiysk. During the reporting period, 155 accidents were registered on it, in which 28 people died and another 247 were injured. In second place by the number of incidents is the highway to Omsk: here 75 accidents occurred, claiming the lives of 14 people.
