Legendary tram driver from Ufa Yuri Suboch has died, according to the Telegram channel «Honest Report» citing his family. Passengers remembered him for his ever-present hat and mustache, which lovingly compared him to Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as his commentary during rides.
Yuri drew information from the media and shared it with passengers — weather forecasts, currency exchange rates, local news. Colleagues noted his optimism and cheerful disposition. When asked how to endure any hardships with such an attitude, Yuri invited everyone to work with him.
‘Let them come to our depot. There will always be work, plenty of it. And we old-timers will finally retire,’ he said in an interview with UFA1.RU in 2015, at which point he had been driving trams for over 40 years.
Of course, he adored electric transport and defended it. Incidentally, Yuri did not have a driver«s license for cars.
‘A tram is like a person: sensitive, necessary, it will take you there and back on time. And how to make it profitable — let those who are supposed to think about it,’ the driver explained.
According to «Honest Report,» the farewell for Yuri Suboch will take place tomorrow, January 28, at the address: Tsvetochnaya Street, 2/4 in small hall No. 2. The legendary driver will be buried at the Northern Cemetery in Ufa. Read more about him in the article on UFA1.RU.
