Governor Denis Pasler announced that the family of Yekaterinburg resident Timofey Kurdupov, who died in an aviation disaster near Orsk, will be provided with necessary assistance.

The cadet was five days away from his 21st birthday.

«The tragedy occurred today in the sky over Orsk in Orenburg Region. A training aircraft with a pilot-instructor and two cadets on board crashed. Unfortunately, no one survived,» the head of the region said. «One of the cadets, Timofey Kurdupov, is from Sverdlovsk Region. I have instructed colleagues to contact the young man»s family. We will provide the relatives with necessary assistance and support. Eternal memory to the deceased.«

Investigators are exploring several possible causes for the crash.

Timofey Kurdupov was a graduate of Yekaterinburg Lyceum No. 159. During his studies, he actively participated in military-sports competitions and often took prize places. After receiving his diploma, the young man worked part-time as a tutor in exact sciences. To fulfill his dream, he enrolled in the St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Aviation.

According to preliminary information, on the morning of February 2, a light training aircraft Diamond was performing a training flight. After gaining altitude, the aircraft began to descend sharply and crashed into a field near the village of Dzhanatalap. The plane sustained significant damage, and all those on board died.

The Transport Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code. This article concerns violation of safety rules for air traffic and operation of air transport, resulting through negligence in the death of two or more persons.

Currently, several versions of what happened are being considered, including possible pilot error and technical malfunctions of the aircraft.

Rosaviatsia (the Federal Air Transport Agency) confirmed that a pre-investigation check is being conducted after the emergency in Orsk.
