Ex-Footballer Pawns Rented Equipment, Owes 300,000 Rubles

A police report has been filed in Yekaterinburg against former footballer Maxim Yamalatdinov. The man is accused of a multi-year fraud scheme where he rents valuable equipment, fails to pay for it, and does not return the property. Similar cases first became known in 2022, but complaints against Yamalatdinov have not stopped since.

The victim, Timofey, said he learned of the suspect«s reputation too late. In November 2023, he rented a sound system worth 110,000 rubles (approximately $1,100) to Maxim. Several months later, the man found his property in a pawnshop on Shchorsa Street.

«I was deceived by repeat offender fraudster Maxim Yamalatdinov. Two months later, yesterday, I found my sound system, which I rented to him, in a pawnshop on Shchorsa Street. The system costs 110,000 rubles, and unpaid rent since November is over 300,000 rubles (about $3,000),» Timofey reported.

The Yekaterinburg resident filed a report with law enforcement. Police confirmed that the document has been registered and an investigation has begun. However, Timofey is worried that during the proceedings, the equipment might be sold.

«I filed a request for the immediate seizure of the system from the pawnshop, but no one is doing anything. My system is still for sale in that office, it could be bought any minute. The remote control has already been sold,» the victim added.

In December last year, Maxim Yamalatdinov promised Timofey to partially repay the debt and issue a receipt, but did not fulfill his obligations.

In 2023, dozens of people complained about the ex-footballer. Despite this, in 2024 he continued to operate using a similar scheme.

One of the victims obtained an audio recording where Yamalatdinov states: «Go to court and so on — you won«t get anything, do you understand that?»
