The Main Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for the Volgograd Region confirmed the evacuation of people from the supermarket engulfed in flames. The fire was registered in the afternoon of January 24.

According to the press service of the department, the fire report came from the Dzerzhinsky district. On the second floor of the two-story building, trade goods were burning over an area of 100 square meters. Fire crews began extinguishing the blaze. As a result of the evacuation, 35 people were successfully led out, with no casualties or injuries.

Local residents were the first to report the emergency, having photographed the fire scene. The photos show thick black smoke rising from the building of a grocery store belonging to one of the well-known chains. Several rescue vehicles are nearby.

“There are two buildings,” eyewitnesses said. “One houses a Magnit store, and the other had a Fix Price. That one, it seems, caught fire.”
