EMERCOM Announces Evacuation in Volgograd Supermarket Fire

The fire started on the second floor of a building, according to emergency services.
The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Volgograd Region announced the evacuation of visitors and staff from a supermarket engulfed in flames. The fire in the store broke out on the afternoon of January 24.
Video footage shows dense smoke and fire trucks at the scene of the supermarket fire.
— On January 24, a report was received about a fire in Dzerzhinsky district of Volgograd, — the press service of the rescue agency reported. — In a two-story building, on the second floor, retail goods are burning over an area of 100 square meters. Fire and rescue units are extinguishing the blaze. 35 people have been evacuated, with no fatalities or injuries.
Recall that the first to report the incident were readers of V1.RU, who sent photos from the scene to the editorial office.
In the footage, one can see a thick column of smoke rising from the building housing a grocery store of one of the popular retail chains. Several fire trucks are also visible there.
— There are two buildings, — eyewitnesses said. — In one, there is a «Magnit» store, in the other was a «Fix Price». It seems that it was the latter that caught fire.
