Elephant Attacks Russian Tourists, Smashes Bus in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, an elephant attacked a bus carrying Russian tourists. It ripped the door off the vehicle, and passengers fled. The reason the elephant became enraged was fruit.

The thing is, in the local park, elephants regularly take «bribes» from tourists. The animals come out onto the road, stop cars — and let them pass only after tourists give fruit. A Russian woman did exactly that, but the elephant didn«t like something about her offering. So the three-ton (approximately 6,600 lb) elephant went on the attack.

The elephant, using its trunk, tore off the door of the minibus to get more fruit from inside. A warning shot was also heard, fired in an attempt to scare off the huge animal.

«Among those fleeing was an 11-year-old boy who had to escape without shoes,» emphasized the Daily Mail.

The shocked tourist — Liliya Mikhaylovskaya from Kazan. She admitted that she will never forget this incident.

«We almost died. We were approaching the elephant, a wild elephant. We will never forget this trip to Sri Lanka. Just a couple of minutes ago I was filming a video, completely unaware that the cute moment of feeding would turn into such chaos. Here»s another phobia for my collection!« said Liliya.

The video of the incident looks frightening — the elephant in it is behaving very aggressively. But, fortunately, no one was hurt. After a few minutes, the raging animal calmed down, and the tourists were able to drive on.

The door, left lying on the road, was picked up by them on the way back.
