Eighth-Grader Attacks School with Molotov Cocktail and Hammer

Emergency services are on duty at School «Kompleks Pokrovskiy» in the Central District of Krasnoyarsk. An eighth-grade girl threw a Molotov cocktail into a classroom and attacked children and a teacher with a hammer. The girl was detained. Classes were cancelled, and students were sent home. The school has metal detectors and card-based entry.

Eyewitnesses say it happened during an algebra lesson. The girl burst into the classroom and threw a Molotov cocktail inside — students initially thought it was just a flash. Teachers put out the fire and tended to the children themselves. At the same time, a toilet caught fire, and screams were heard on the second floor. The attacker was later seen in the corridor — she ran with a hammer in her black fingerless gloves.

Other students say the girl was not bullied at school.

«No, she was just a quiet girl, no one bullied her, no one did anything,» one student told NGS24.RU.

According to him, the girl had no friends, did not talk to anyone, and attended the second shift.

A teacher and several children were injured. One child is in serious condition at the burn center. Two others were taken to Berzon Hospital No. 20 in moderate condition.

The Investigative Committee (SK, Sledstvennyy Komitet) reported that investigative actions are being conducted with the detained girl. The agency will also provide a legal assessment of the school staff«s actions. The education department has also launched an inspection — psychologists will work with the students.

Tomorrow, 5 February, the school will operate as usual.
