E-scooter rider to pay compensation for hitting child
A court has ruled that an e-scooter rider who hit a schoolchild on a sidewalk must pay his family 50,000 rubles (about $560 at current rates). The child developed a fear of going outside after the incident.

The incident occurred on May 20 last year on Olga Forsh Street in the Kalininsky District of St. Petersburg. A man riding an e-scooter hit an eight-year-old boy on the sidewalk and fled the scene of the accident.
As a result of the collision, the schoolboy suffered bruises. However, the physical injuries were not the only consequence. The child developed a psychological fear and began to be afraid to leave the house and go outside.
Law enforcement agencies conducted an investigation and identified the culprit. The Kalininsky District Prosecutor«s Office prepared and filed a lawsuit in court to recover compensation for moral damages in favor of the injured minor.
After reviewing the case materials, the court fully satisfied the prosecutor«s demands. Now the e-scooter rider is obliged to pay the victim»s family 50,000 rubles (about $560 at current rates).
