Dump Truck Knocks Over Pipes Near Airport, Hits Bus
On February 2, during the day in Nizhny Novgorod, a dump truck knocked over pipes near Chkalov Airport. The structure collapsed onto a shuttle bus, leading to a blockade of traffic.
The incident occurred on Bezvodnaya Street. According to preliminary information, the driver failed to lower the truck«s body, causing the vehicle to exceed the permissible height and strike the pipes.
The incident caused a massive traffic jam on the road. According to online maps, the difficulties begin at the turn from Orekhovskaya Street onto Bezvodnaya. The most severe situation is at the «Aviators Museum» stop, where traffic has completely stopped in both directions.
The airport«s press service reported that the dump truck was engaged in snow removal from the territory. The damaged pipes are an inactive heating main, so there is no threat to the operational utilities supplying the airport and nearby houses.
