Drunk driver kills cyclist in Leningrad Oblast

Last Saturday evening, a fatal traffic accident occurred in Kirovsky district of Leningrad Oblast. On the 22nd kilometer of the Lavrovo–Shum–Ratnitsy road, a 37-year-old driver of an Opel Meriva hit a 52-year-old woman who was cycling in the same direction. She died at the scene from her injuries.

According to investigators, the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was detained for 48 hours. A criminal case has been opened under the article on violating traffic rules while intoxicated, resulting in death by negligence.
