In February 2021, the man, who had already been deprived of his driver’s license for drunk driving, damaged a car in the Berezovy microdistrict of Irkutsk and argued with the vehicle’s driver.
In a video published by the regional police press service, the man stated that on that day he was drunk, had quarreled with his girlfriend, and got behind the wheel to leave. While reversing, he damaged another car.
When a criminal case was opened against him for repeated drunk driving, he left for Turkey and then to South Africa, where he worked in real estate.
The man was found and, with the assistance of Interpol, returned to his homeland. Now he faces trial.
