Drones strike Krasnodar port, causing fatalities and oil depot fire

Russian regions were subjected to a mass drone attack on Wednesday, January 21. In Krasnodar Krai, oil product tanks caught fire due to the strikes, and several people died.

As governor Veniamin Kondratyev said, port terminals in the Volna settlement of Temryuk district came under attack.

«According to preliminary information, two enterprise employees were killed, and several more were injured. I express deep condolences to the families. We will definitely provide necessary medical assistance to all the wounded. If needed, we will deliver them to regional medical institutions,» Kondratyev wrote in his Telegram channel.

On the terminal territory, four tanks with oil products caught fire. The fire is being extinguished by EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) employees.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, from 18:00 to 22:00 MSK, air defense systems destroyed 52 drones:

• 36 — over the waters of the Azov Sea;

• 8 — over the waters of the Black Sea;

• 4 — over the Republic of Crimea;

• 4 — over Krasnodar Krai.

In addition, from 09:00 to 18:00 MSK, 32 more drones were shot down over regions.

The number of dead as a result of the attack on port terminals increased to 3 people, and the injured — to 8, the operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported.

The Ministry of Defense added that from 20:00 to 23:00 MSK, air defense shot down 17 drones, 8 of them — over the territory of Krasnodar Krai.

What to do if you see a drone?

First and most important — you need to call the phone number 112.

You need to report:

• your first name, last name, and patronymic;

• the address where the drone was detected;

• describe the drone (whether it is hovering or flying, its silhouette, what kind of flashing light it has);

• what sound the object makes (buzzing, sound of a lawnmower, moped).

Second: leave the area where the drone was detected, and if possible, warn others around.

If you find a drone on the ground, do not approach it and under no circumstances touch it. Call 112 and report the find.
