Driver Sentenced for Fatal Collision That Killed Two

In Yaroslavl Region, a 39-year-old driver was sentenced after being found guilty of a fatal traffic accident in Nekrasovsky District. A Lada Granta and a Haval collided on March 2, 2025, on the Tunoshna-Burmakino road. The 42-year-old driver of the domestic car and his five-year-old son were killed.

«The court found that the accused, while driving a Haval Jolion, lost control of the vehicle, entered the oncoming lane, and collided with a Lada Granta,» the Yaroslavl Region Prosecutor«s Office said.
Police reported that the driver of the Chinese crossover was taken to the hospital, along with the driver and three passengers of the Lada. One of them — a five-year-old boy — died in the arms of medical personnel.
The Haval driver was tried under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules resulting in the negligent death of two persons). The court sentenced him to four years in a penal colony. He is also banned from driving for two years and 10 months.
«The court also granted the claims of the victims» relatives, ordering the convicted to pay 4.1 million rubles (approximately $45,600 at current rates) in compensation for moral damages,« the Yaroslavl Regional Prosecutor»s Office clarified.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
