Driver Flees After Fatally Hitting Pedestrian in Yaroslavl

Police in Yaroslavl are searching for a driver who fled the scene after hitting and killing a 78-year-old woman at a crosswalk on the morning of January 24.

On the morning of January 24, a fatal traffic accident occurred in Yaroslavl. Around 6:58 a.m. on Oktyabrya Avenue near house No. 65a, an unidentified driver hit a 78-year-old pensioner and fled the scene.

According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the driver was behind the wheel of a VAZ car, and the pensioner was crossing the roadway at a zebra crossing against a red traffic light.

The woman could not be saved and died before the ambulance arrived.

Law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene. They are searching for the driver who hit the pensioner.

«If you witnessed this traffic accident or have any information, please report it to the police,» appealed the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) office for the Yaroslavl region to the city«s residents.

A day earlier, a severe traffic accident occurred on Leningradsky Avenue in Yaroslavl. A VAZ and a Mazda collided there. The police reported that the driver and two passengers of the domestic car were injured. We published video from the accident scene.
