Driver Fatally Hits Pedestrian and Flees in Yaroslavl

A fatal traffic accident occurred in Yaroslavl on the morning of January 24.
Video footage from the scene captured by eyewitnesses shows the aftermath of the fatal collision.
Around 6:58 on Oktyabrya Avenue near house No. 65a, an unidentified driver hit a 78-year-old retiree and left the scene of the accident.
According to preliminary data, the car was a VAZ brand. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing on a red traffic light.
It was not possible to save the woman — she died before the ambulance arrived. Law enforcement officers are working at the scene, searching for the fleeing driver.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) department for Yaroslavl Oblast appealed to residents: «If you witnessed this accident or have any information, please report it to the police.»
On January 23 in Yaroslavl on Leningradsky Avenue, another serious accident occurred. In a collision between a VAZ and a Mazda, the driver and two passengers of the domestic car were injured.
