Doctors in Akademchesky miss child's displaced fracture, prescribe bruise gel

In Yekaterinburg, the mother of a 9-year-old girl accused doctors of not noticing a displaced fracture in her child. The schoolgirl was injured when leaving a training session. Her mother was with her and immediately took her daughter to the nearest trauma center on Parina Street.

«They did an X-ray, said: »Everything«s fine, just a bruise. Apply gel.» I played it safe and went to the children«s clinic on Shamanova, where there»s a very good trauma orthopedist. He did another X-ray right there. The result — a displaced fracture,« the victim»s mother said.

The girl was referred to the 9th Children«s Hospital. There, a cast was applied to her. The question of surgery is still being decided. The mother immediately reported the incorrect diagnosis to the management of the trauma center in Akademchesky.

«Either the radiologists did the X-ray that way, or the doctor didn»t see it. But the head began defending her staff. And the first thing she said was that they don«t specialize in children,» says the victim«s mother.

We requested a comment from the hospital to which the trauma center belongs. They said that the girl«s mother should submit an official complaint.
