Divers Find Car with Woman's Body Near Krasnoyarsk
Divers found a car with a woman's body at the bottom of a lake in the village of Peschanka near Krasnoyarsk on July 20 after it rolled into the water during the night.

On the morning of July 20, divers from the Krasnoyarsk Search and Rescue Team worked on the shore of a lake in the village of Peschanka. They were called by police after a passenger car drove into the water during the night.
Rescuers deployed divers to locate and retrieve the vehicle from the lake.

According to KGKU «Spasatel» (Regional State Rescue Service), the car was found at the bottom at a depth of four meters. A woman remained inside the cabin.

The divers surveyed the bottom, determined the car«s position, and conducted two descents. The body was brought to the surface and handed over to police officers.

In a photo released by rescuers, the car had already been pulled from the depths: a dark-colored car sits a few meters from the shore. The vehicle is heavily tilted, with its front end submerged deeper. The rear bodywork is crumpled, and the trunk lid is torn and raised upward.
The victim was 23 years old. By 4:35 PM, the Chief Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia explained how the car ended up in the water.
A group of six people came to the lake. At night, the woman went to sleep in the car cabin, while the others stayed by the campfire. At that time, the car was parked on a slope and was held in place only by being in gear: the handbrake was not working.
The investigation does not explain what caused the engine to start. The car rolled down and went into the water with the woman inside. She was unable to escape from the cabin.
A procedural check is underway into the death.
Peschanka is part of the Krasnoyarsk city district and is administratively subordinate to the Sovetsky District.
Earlier, NGS24.RU reported that in late June, a 16-year-old teenager drowned in the Ermakovsky District. He told friends he would swim across a pond alone, but ran out of strength in the middle. His body was recovered on the second dive.
