Diver dies during dive in Vladivostok, body found by eyewitness

A diver died during a dive in the southwest of Russky Island in Vladivostok. The body of a man born in 2000 was discovered by an eyewitness in Ivan Tsova Bay.
As reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Primorsky Krai, the deceased was pulled from the water before rescuers arrived.
The identity of the deceased is currently not being disclosed; it is only known that he was around 25 years old. Based on a photo, which we have not published for ethical reasons, the diver was wearing a dark blue wetsuit, gloves, a mask, and fins.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by law enforcement officers.
In comments on reports about the tragedy, residents of Vladivostok pointed out safety issues regarding underwater dives.
«Everyone knows that you shouldn’t go underwater alone — at least in pairs and with a safety diver on the surface. But they still go alone,» wrote one of the city residents.
