Detached modular home kills five in Krasnoyarsk region crash

Five people, including four children, died when a trailer carrying a modular home detached from a truck and collided with a minibus on the R-257 Siberia highway in the Rybinsky district on February 2. Four others were hospitalized.

On the evening of February 2, a fatal accident occurred on the federal highway R-257 «Siberia» in the Rybinsky district. A truck was transporting a modular home when the trailer detached while in motion and crashed into a passenger Gazel minibus. Five people died, four of them children. Four others were hospitalized.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the accident happened at the 965th kilometer of the highway. The Iveco truck was traveling from Kansk towards Krasnoyarsk. At some point, the trailer with the modular home detached and veered into the oncoming lane, where it collided with the minibus. The Gazel was driven by a 52-year-old driver.

Police are working at the scene. Investigators have opened a criminal case. Prosecutors also arrived at the site for an inspection.

Traffic has been diverted through the village of Rybnoye.

Earlier that same day, the editorial staff of NGS24.RU reported on another accident involving five cars. In that case, there were no fatalities.
