Deputy Hits Colleague in Berdsk Council During Voter Mandate Discussion

A deputy of the Berdsk city council will be tried for beating another parliamentarian. This was reported on January 27 by the prosecutor«s office of Novosibirsk Oblast. The 44-year-old politician is accused of causing minor bodily harm to a person in connection with the performance of public duty (clause »g« part 2 article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, the conflict between the politicians occurred on June 25 last year. The discussion around the implementation of voter mandates escalated from verbal sparring to physical violence.
«A conflict arose between two deputies over the performance of public duty, during which the accused struck the victim on the head, causing bodily injuries assessed as minor harm to health,» according to the statement.
The criminal case against the deputy will be considered by a magistrate in Berdsk.
NGS has sent a request to the Berdsk council of deputies to obtain a comment on the situation.
Earlier in Novosibirsk, a mass fight occurred — a group of teenagers attacked store visitors.
