Deceased in City Mall: Social Media Reveals His Life

A young man, 24-year-old Dmitry, a native of Astrakhan Oblast, died in one of St. Petersburg«s hospitals after unsuccessful resuscitation efforts. According to the publication, he died as a result of a conflict with security at a hypermarket located in the City Mall shopping complex. The Investigative Committee, police, and prosecutor»s office are conducting an investigation into the incident.
An analysis of the deceased«s social media accounts showed that until recently, he lived and studied in Astrakhan, then worked in various organizations. Among them is a legal entity named »Persimmons and Tangerines.« The young man apparently experienced financial difficulties: he was a frequent client of microfinance organizations, had debts that were being handled by bailiffs, and placed bets on sporting events. For loans, he offered his girlfriend as a guarantor.
In his Telegram channel, which had 32 subscribers, Dmitry shared rap music, rare photos, and videos. Based on posts, he moved to St. Petersburg in 2025. On January 4, 2026, he posted footage of himself shooting a flare gun from a balcony. The views in the video indicate he lived on the outskirts of the Primorsky District of the city.
The conflict that led to his death occurred when guards at the Perekryostok store suspected a visitor of theft and tried to detain him. In response, Dmitry began shooting a gas pistol. He was knocked to the floor and held until a rapid response team arrived. At some point, the young man lost consciousness. Bystanders tried to revive him with ammonia, but without success.
During the incident, one of the guards involved in the detention escaped through a back exit. The others were taken to the police station, where they were issued citations for petty hooliganism.
