Deadly Accident with Medics Near Uren

On the morning of January 21, a fatal traffic accident occurred on highway R-159 involving employees of the Tonshayevskaya Central District Hospital. Details of the incident were provided by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. at the 184th kilometer of the Nizhny Novgorod — Shakhtunya — Kirov road. The driver of a Ford EcoSport lost control and entered the oncoming lane, where it collided with a LADA Largus.
In the LADA were workers of the Tonshayevskaya Central District Hospital, who were heading on a business trip to Nizhny Novgorod. The 58-year-old driver of the medical institution died at the scene. The 59-year-old nurse sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital. Also injured were the driver and passenger of the foreign car; their condition is not specified.
The investigation of the workplace accident is being handled by the regional State Labor Inspectorate.
The day before, on Tuesday, on a highway near Arzamas, in a similar collision of two cars, three employees of the Corporation for the Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Region died. The head of the regional Ministry of Industry and Trade, Maxim Cherkasov, expressed condolences to the relatives and close ones of the deceased.
