Cyclone triggers landslides and mudflows in Sochi

In Sochi, due to continuous rains, rivers have reached dangerous levels, and landslides and mudflows have become active in various districts. In the Adler district, a mudflow occurred on the road from the mountain-climate resort «Alpika-Service» to Sulimovsky Creek, and from Sulimovsky Creek to the 3S cable car station.
«Traffic on this section has been temporarily blocked. Special equipment that arrived promptly is conducting active road clearance work. Traffic police officers are ensuring safety in the work zone, redirecting traffic flows, and helping to clear the roadway of parked cars that are hindering the special equipment,» reports the press service of the Sochi State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI).
A mudflow also descended on the Rosa Khutor ski resort. The passage is completely blocked, warns the resort administration. Specialists are currently on site clearing the roadway of mudflows. However, they continue to flow down the slope due to the heaviest precipitation.

A landslide continues to move in the area of the «Ministerskie Ozera» residential complex, with mudflows flooding the adjacent territory. The situation with landslide processes on Petrozavodskaya Street in Adler is worsening. Mudflows are flooding the first floors of an apartment building.
Upon exiting Adler near the «Morskaya Simfoniya» residential complex, the right lane has traditionally gone under water. Traffic jam towards Sochi starts from Sirius.
