Criminal case opened over accident involving former Bodaibo mayor

A criminal case has been initiated over a fatal road accident in the Kazachinsko-Lensky District, involving former Bodaibo mayor Alexander Dubkov. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Irkutsk Region State Traffic Inspectorate.

Recall that the accident occurred on the evening of January 20 at the 254th kilometer of the Zhigalovo–Kazachinskoye highway. According to preliminary data, the 42-year-old driver of a Lexus car drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser.

As a result of the head-on collision, the Lexus driver and one passenger died at the scene. Another passenger, a woman, was taken to a medical facility where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV sustained injuries of varying severity and was hospitalized.

“Yesterday, I personally called the Unified Duty Dispatch Service, the Kazachinsko-Lensky District Ministry of Internal Affairs department, and the admission room of the Kazachinsko-Lensky Central District Hospital. Today, I called the hospital again, and they confirmed that Alexander Dubkov has already been transferred from intensive care to the admission room. His condition has stabilized,” Bodaibo City Duma deputy Sergey Dyakonov told an IrCity correspondent earlier.

The police investigative bodies have initiated a criminal case under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code — violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation, resulting through negligence in the death of two or more persons.

If violations are identified, prosecutorial response measures will also be taken in the field of road traffic safety, as reported on the Telegram channel of the supervisory authority.
