Collapsed snowdrift kills 10-year-old girl near Krasnoyarsk

In the Krasnoyarsk village of Berezovka, a 10-year-old girl died under a snowdrift, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee department.
According to preliminary data, the child was playing near a neighbor«s house on Sovkhoznaya Street.
«The girl was digging a tunnel in a large snowdrift, during which the upper part of the snow collapsed and blocked the exit. The child could not get out and died,» described the Investigative Committee.
The exact cause of death is still unknown. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 109 (causing death by negligence). Investigators are working at the scene.
In mid-January in Krasnoyarsk on Tatyshev Island, a man with signs of severe hypothermia was rescued. He was lying in the snow in light clothing at a temperature of about –30°C (–22°F) and could have died without help. According to eyewitnesses, if the man had stayed in the cold for another 15–20 minutes, it could have ended in death. At the time of the incident, there was almost no one on the island.
