Child fire fatalities double in Khanty-Mansi in 2025

In Yugra in 2025, the mortality rate of children in fires doubled compared to the same period in 2024. Over the year, eight minors died, according to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
In total, 54 residents of Yugra died in fires in 2025, with the mortality rate increasing by 3.8%. Another 75 people, including four children, were injured, which is 7.1% more than the previous year.
Nevertheless, the number of fires in the region decreased by 4.6% — to 1,968 cases per year. More than half (1,020 fires) occurred in residential sector facilities. The most common cause was violation of rules for using electrical equipment (57.5%). Other causes included careless handling of fire (19.5%), violation of rules for using stoves (15%), and arson (3.8%).
The most fires in Yugra occurred in December — 229 cases. The fewest were in April — 130 cases.
«Units of the state fire service rescued 255 people at the scene of fires, including 61 children. A total of 5,822 people were evacuated from fire sites, including 2,114 children,» EMERCOM reported.
