Car Hits Pedestrian Near Volgograd's Detention Center No.1

A car ran over a pedestrian in the morning of January 27 on Golubinskaya Street in Volgograd. The incident occurred at a pedestrian crossing near the gates of pre-trial detention center No.1 of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) for the Volgograd region.

Eyewitnesses reported that the hit person remained lying on the roadway. «On Golubinskaya, a car hit a pedestrian opposite the prison exit gates. The person is lying down,» readers of V1.RU said.

The intersection on Golubinskaya is considered accident-prone. Drivers need to simultaneously watch for tram traffic and notice the «Pedestrian Crossing» sign, which from Rokossovskogo Street is often hidden by tree branches.

The editorial board of V1.RU requested information about the circumstances of the accident from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for the region. The health committee confirmed the fact of the hit. «After examination by an ambulance team, the victim was taken to City Clinical Hospital No.25. Currently, an examination is being conducted,» the department stated.
