In the Samara Region, a traffic accident occurred involving a train and a passenger car. Details of the incident were provided by representatives of the Kuibyshev Railway (KbzhD).
It all happened on Wednesday, January 21 at a railway crossing between the Zhigulyovskoye More and Khimzavodskaya stations.
«At 15:44, the driver of a passenger car entered the railway crossing in front of an approaching suburban train »Lastochka« No. 7119 on the Samara–Togliatti route,» according to a statement from the KbzhD.
The information was supplemented by the Traffic Police (GIBDD). The driver, born in 1989, was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe on Khimzavodskaya Street from Vasilyevskaya towards Novozavodskaya. He entered the tracks on a prohibiting signal from the semaphore.
The train driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient, and the collision could not be avoided. According to preliminary information, no one was injured in the accident.
The «Lastochka» continued its journey with an 11-minute delay. The accident did not affect the movement of other trains.
A similar incident occurred on January 8 on the railway tracks between the Kurumoch and Tsarevshchina stations. At that time, a passenger car was hit by a train traveling on the Saint Petersburg–Orenburg route.
