Car fire on Beketova Street triggers traffic jam

On the roadway of Beketova Street in Nizhny Novgorod, a car caught fire. According to eyewitnesses posting on social media, the incident caused a serious traffic delay. Online maps show a buildup of cars heading towards Gagarin Avenue and approaching from Nartova Street. Drivers who stopped nearby tried to put out the flames on their own, but their attempts were unsuccessful. Fire brigades arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze.

In recent months, similar incidents have occurred in the city. In mid-January in the Novaya Kuznechikha area (a district), a car caught fire while driving: the driver was going to buy flowers for his daughter«s birthday but did not manage to leave the residential complex. In November, several cars burst into flames in a parking lot in Nizhny Novgorod — first a BMW, then the fire spread to neighboring vehicles. Another major fire occurred in a parking lot in the Leninsky District, where a Gazelle van caught fire, and then the flames engulfed four more cars: another Gazelle van and three passenger cars. Both Gazelle vans were completely destroyed, and the passenger cars were damaged.
