Car fire causes major traffic jam on Beketova Street

A major traffic jam is forming on Beketova Street in Nizhny Novgorod. A car caught fire right on the roadway, witnesses report on social media.

According to online maps, cars are backed up heading toward Gagarin Avenue and from the approach from Nartova Street. Drivers who stopped tried to put out the car fire on their own, but failed, witnesses write. Firefighters have been called to the scene.
In mid-January, a car caught fire while driving in Novaya Kuznechikha (a district of Nizhny Novgorod). It turned out the driver was searching for flowers for his daughter’s birthday, but didn’t even manage to leave the residential complex.
And in November, several cars caught fire simultaneously in a parking lot in Nizhny Novgorod. Initially a BMW caught fire, after which the flames spread to neighboring cars.
Another major fire occurred in a parking lot in the Leninsky District. First a Gazel (a Russian van) caught fire, followed by four more cars: another identical truck and three passenger cars. As a result, both Gazels were destroyed by fire. The passenger cars were damaged.
