Car collides with freight train at Yaroslavl crossing
The engineer of a freight train applied emergency brakes but could not avoid hitting a car that drove onto the tracks at the Yaroslavl-Pristan crossing. No injuries were reported.

In the evening of February 3, at around 17:30, a passenger car drove onto the tracks directly in front of a freight train at the railway crossing of Yaroslavl-Pristan station in the Dyakovo area (a district of Yaroslavl).

The press service of the Northern Railway reported: «The train driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient, and the collision could not be avoided. According to preliminary information, no one was injured as a result of the accident.»
Company representatives clarified that the incident did not affect the schedule of passenger trains.
The North-Western Transport Prosecutor«s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. The agency noted that the freight train did not derail. »An inspection is being conducted regarding compliance with legislation on traffic safety and railway transport operation,« law enforcement officials said.
Earlier, on January 19, a similar incident occurred in Yaroslavl: a truck and a diesel locomotive collided at a crossing near the Tormoznoye Shosse (a highway) area. That accident also resulted in no injuries.
