‘Can I Touch Your Butt?’ Chita Man Harasses

A resident of Chita asked two 10-year-old schoolgirls on the street if he could touch their breasts or buttocks. Police, who tracked him down after the mother of one of the girls filed a complaint, said he explained that he meant it as a joke. The mother herself told this to a Chita.Ru correspondent on 4 February, and the decision to refuse initiation of criminal proceedings is at the disposal of the editorial board.

The girls said that in October 2025 around 1:00 p.m. they were walking to School No. 32. On Novobulvarnaya Street, an unfamiliar young man on a rented scooter approached them and said: «Girls, can I touch your butt or breast and then leave?» When the schoolgirls said «no», he left.

The man was found and questioned. He told police he decided to joke with the schoolgirls, but could not explain the purpose of his action. He also claimed he did not approach the girls closely. The man promised not to joke like that again. The police ruling stated that the check found no signs of a criminal offense.

The girl«s mother told a Chita.Ru correspondent that afterward her daughter saw the same man near the school again: «So it turns out that such “jokes” on children are not considered illegal. The school also did not react. The second time, my daughter saw him right near the school under the cameras and ran after him to take a photo. He ran away from her; a teacher saw all of this.»

The Chita woman did not file a second police report: «I wrote to the policewoman who had interviewed us. And the school security refused to show me the camera footage where he might have appeared.»
