Bus en route to Yekaterinburg catches fire suddenly

A bus traveling from Solikamsk to Yekaterinburg caught fire on the evening of 23 January near Berezniki. Passengers posted video of the emergency, which resulted in no injuries.

On the evening of 23 January, a bus en route to Yekaterinburg caught fire near Berezniki in Perm Krai. Passengers reported the incident, posting video from the scene on social media.

«A couple of kilometers from Berezniki, the rear part of the bus caught fire. The driver stopped and promptly evacuated the passengers,» wrote the Telegram channel «Perm No. 1».

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) for Perm Krai reported that the bus caught fire while in motion, but no one was injured. Rescue workers classified the incident as a traffic accident.

The editorial office of 59.RU requested information from the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD). No response from the police had been received at the time of publication.

According to 59.RU, the bus that caught fire was a 2023 Yutong model. It was traveling on route No. 5282 from Solikamsk to Yekaterinburg. This route is serviced by the transport company «Ural-Avto» from Yekaterinburg. 59.RU was unable to contact representatives of the auto transport company (ATP).

According to «Kontur.Fokus», LLC Transport Company (TK) «Ural-Avto» was registered in the summer of 2011 in Yekaterinburg. The ATP is owned and managed by Vasily Gorbunov. For 2024, the company declared revenues of 99.9 million rubles (approximately $1.1 million at current rates) with a net profit of 16 million rubles (approximately $178,000). In 2021, according to E1.RU, two buses under Gorbunov«s control burned out within a week.

LLC TK «Ural-Avto» services routes No. 5282, 5365, and 5665, which connect Yekaterinburg with Solikamsk and Tyumen. Its affiliated companies, LLC «Ural-Avto» and «Ural-Avto Plus», service five suburban routes in Yekaterinburg, 16 intermunicipal routes in Sverdlovsk Oblast, and the international route No. 1075 Yekaterinburg–Kostanay (Kazakhstan).
