«Bully’s Mom Just Laughed»: 11-Year-Old Breaks Classmate’s Spine

In Novosineglazovo (a suburb of Chelyabinsk, Russia), an 11-year-old boy knocked down a classmate near a school and broke his spine. The injured student will have to wear a brace for six months. His mother filed a police report and intends to go to court.

Evgenia, Vadim«s mother, contacted the editorial office of 74.RU. She said the incident occurred on 19 January. Vadim and Andrei (name changed) are not friends but also not in conflict. However, Evgenia believes Andrei intentionally knocked her son down while they were walking after classes near the school. Passing teachers helped Vadim get up and took him into the school.

«I don«t know what happened between them, but my child fell and got a compression fracture of two vertebrae. Now he will be in a brace for six months. He cannot sit, can only move short distances. And this is despite the fact that he plays football at the Olympic reserve school,» Evgenia said.

Evgenia came to pick up her son after a call from the teacher. He was complaining of severe back pain.

«We called an ambulance, they took us to the regional hospital, took an X-ray and said urgent hospitalization was needed. We were in the hospital from 19 to 27 January,» Evgenia continues. «I contacted the bully«s mother. She didn»t even apologize, just laughed into the phone. She said she can«t handle her own son and agreed that I would file a police report and go to court.»

Evgenia has already filed a report with the police. The Chelyabinsk City Police Department told 74.RU that an investigation has been launched. According to police, the offender had previously been registered with the juvenile affairs commission (PDN) but has since been removed from the register.

We also spoke with Andrei«s mother, Irina (name changed). She assured that she apologized to Evgenia.

«All this happened because Andrei stood up for the girls,» Irina told a 74.RU journalist. «Vadim was throwing snowballs at them. Andrei told him to stop, but he kept throwing, so Andrei tripped him, and he fell on his backpack. I called and apologized for my son. I«m a reasonable mother. I understand that the child is now without sports or anything.»

The school declined to comment to 74.RU on the incident, only stating that an internal investigation is underway.
