Boy, 12, dies after slipping on ice on way from school

A horrific tragedy occurred in the Volgograd region: a 12-year-old child was killed on his way from school to a group counseling session with a psychologist. The boy slipped on ice, fell, and hit his head hard — doctors were, unfortunately, unable to save the injured schoolboy.
As eyewitnesses told a V1.RU correspondent, the tragedy occurred today, 2 February, in the railway workers« town of Petrov Val in the Kamyshinsky district.
«It was terrifyingly slippery today. I talked with the boy»s uncle this morning, and now I«ve found out the guy died in the hospital. It»s just awful,« one said.
According to the director of Municipal School No. 56 (MКОУ СШ №56), the accident happened during the lunch hour, when the boy was walking from lessons to a group session with a teacher-psychologist.
«He turned off the road before reaching it. There was a group of children there; they called the homeroom teacher and said: »Seryozha (name changed) has fallen, he«s lying unconscious,»« the school director recounted. »I came to the scene, called an ambulance twice, but they didn«t make it in time.»
The information about the tragedy was also confirmed by the head of the Kamyshinsky municipal district, Yelena Beregovaya. According to her, the child«s father had previously died while participating in the special military operation in Ukraine.
«He was on his way to the educational psychologist at 2:00 p.m. According to the schoolchildren, he slipped, fell on his back, and hit his head,» said Yelena Beregovaya. «The teacher called an ambulance, but the boy died on the way to the hospital.»
The V1.RU editorial office requested information about the incident from the healthcare committee of the Volgograd region administration, but no response had been received at the time of publication. In turn, Senior Assistant to the Head for Media Relations of the Investigative Committee«s Volgograd Region Directorate, Natalia Rudnik, stated that information about the child»s death had not yet reached their department.
Updated: Later, the governor«s office press service reported, citing the regional healthcare committee, that emergency medical aid was provided to the minor by a pediatric emergency ambulance team. During the aid, the necessary resuscitation measures were carried out. The patient was delivered to a medical organization where resuscitation efforts continued. Despite the measures taken, it was not possible to save the patient.
