Boot Flies 30m in Chita Drunk Driving Accident

The drunk driver who hit a family with a child on January 25 first crashed into bushes on the bank of the Ingoda River at high speed. He himself did not suffer visible injuries, an eyewitness to the incident told Chita.Ru correspondent.

First, the driver flew through the bushes at high speed, then hit the people. The driver had no visible injuries. The impact was so strong that a boot from one of the pedestrians was found on the river bank about 35 meters from the accident site. A woman was injured, the man did not seem hurt, but he was limping, and the child was crying heavily. Earlier, the traffic police reported that a 58-year-old woman was injured, and a one-time medical aid was provided to an 8-year-old boy.

The driver was held accountable under part 3 of article 12.8 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation for driving while intoxicated and without a driver«s license. For this, administrative arrest for a period of 10 to 15 days is envisaged, and for those to whom arrest cannot be applied — a fine of 45,000 rubles (approximately $450 at current rates).
