Body of Missing Yekaterinburg Man Found Murdered in Georgia
Alexander Korovnikov, 40, who left Yekaterinburg, was found dead in Tbilisi. He had been missing since early January 2026.

Korovnikov stopped making contact on January 1, 2026. His friends organized searches, publishing missing person notices on social media and in the media.
Missing person reports indicated that Alexander suffered from epilepsy and had no relatives in Georgia. He was last seen on December 30 on Agmashenebeli Avenue, and until December 31 he was reportedly staying in a hostel.
A month after his disappearance, Korovnikov was found dead. According to his friend Oleg Ivanov, Alexander«s father confirmed that his son had been found murdered. The Russian embassy is handling the return of the body to Russia.
According to Kommersant, citing the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, a criminal case has been opened into the death. The investigation is being conducted under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, «Driving to Suicide.»
Alexander Korovnikov was born and raised in Yekaterinburg. He graduated from the Diaghilev Lyceum and the Ural Federal University. He worked as an engineer and a tutor. In late 2022, he moved to Tbilisi, where for more than three years he worked at the Iraida Kvizhinadze Theater, in charge of lighting and stage. In his free time, he wrote books and made music. He was divorced.
