Bastrykin Probes Assault on Pensioner with Crowbar in Krasnodar

In Krasnodar, the Investigative Committee on 26 January began a check after a local resident appealed to the head of the Russian Investigative Committee (SK) Alexander Bastrykin. The reason was a prolonged neighborly conflict, as a result of which a 77-year-old pensioner suffered.
What Happened
According to Krasnodar resident Anatoly, the clash with neighbors occurred on the evening of 29 March 2025 near his house on 6th Line of the Kuban River Floodplain Street.
As the pensioner claims, his neighbor and an acquaintance came to the house. One of the men, according to the family, was drunk. Both behaved aggressively, insulted the family, and threatened them with beatings.
The reason for the conflict was the behavior of the neighbor«s tenants. The pensioner»s relatives claim they had previously noticed the tenants trying to lure six-year-old children, including Anatoly«s great-grandson. During the day, the pensioner»s daughter saw this and took the children home.
After work, the daughter«s husband—Vladislav—decided to talk to the neighbor and try to resolve the situation. The conversation turned into a quarrel and then into a fight. According to the family, it was the neighbor who struck first, hitting Vladislav in the face. The pensioner and his son-in-law tried to restrain the attacker to stop the conflict.
At that moment, the second man began to threaten them with a shovel. The situation escalated sharply when, according to Anatoly, the neighbor took a crowbar and hit the pensioner on the head. The 77-year-old man lost consciousness from the blow.
He woke up in the Zipovskaya Hospital. Relatives claim that the pensioner was diagnosed with a head injury, and he himself is a cancer patient and is undergoing treatment.
What Next
On 31 March 2025, Anatoly and his son-in-law filed a report with the police. According to the pensioner, he expected that a case would be opened against the neighbor, whom he considers the attacker.
However, after some time, the investigator reported that a criminal case had been opened against him and Vladislav—on the fact of beating the neighbor. According to the investigation, during the fight the neighbor allegedly had his arm broken.
The pensioner states that his arguments—including his state of health, the fact of hospitalization, and video recordings of the incident—were not taken into account. According to him, the investigator also did not respond to the information that he had suffered a serious head injury and continues treatment.
Anatoly claims that the conflict was captured by surveillance cameras. According to him, the recordings show the moment of the crowbar strike, as well as the consequences of the incident—he himself unconscious, his son-in-law«s bloodied face, and the poor condition of the women who were nearby.
The pensioner insists that there are numerous witnesses in the case, and the alleged attacker himself, according to him, is known in the area for aggressive and inappropriate behavior, but continues to avoid responsibility.
In the end, Anatoly filed complaints with supervisory authorities and directly to Alexander Bastrykin. Now the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee will look into the circumstances of the conflict.
