Base Owner Ejected From Court Over Remark

The owner of the industrial base in the village of Samosyrovo (Tatarstan, Russia), Iosif Lifshits, near which dogs mauled to death 48-year-old Zhanna Khusainova, was ejected from a court hearing for the remark «Outrageous!» A correspondent of 116.RU reports this from the Sovetsky District Court.

At this hearing, the judge denied the defendant«s motion to include in the case file a re-examination that he had ordered himself. The judge also denied the motion to summon these experts to court, explaining that the concept of »expert review« does not exist in the Criminal Procedure Code.

«I contacted an expert institution to obtain a review of those blood examinations; previously I had requested a review of the hair examination. And I received reviews indicating that the examinations conducted have no legal significance for the court,» Lifshits stated.

After the denial, the judge continued to consider other motions by the defendant, but the latter, emotional, said: «Outrageous!» The judge heard this and removed him from the hearing. The rest of the session proceeded without him.

«Outrageous, outrageous!» said Lifshits.

«Defendant, please stand. I have repeatedly warned you that for violating court procedure and showing disrespect to the court, you may be removed from the courtroom. I am removing you for your remark. Please leave the courtroom,» the judge said.

Recall, earlier Lifshits told a 116.RU correspondent that he ordered a re-examination to verify whether the hair found on the victim«s clothing belonged to the dogs that lived on his property. It was conducted in St. Petersburg.

The tragedy itself occurred on 9 November 2024 — in the village of Samosyrovo, dogs mauled to death Khusainova, who was walking to work at a store. At first, relatives thought she was missing and reported it to the police and asked acquaintances; toward evening, the woman«s friends found a video showing Zhanna walking along the street toward the base. There they found her clothes and body. The woman managed to call 112; we published the recording of the conversation with the dispatcher.

Her relatives are convinced that she was attacked by animals from the nearby industrial base, owned by Lifshits. The businessman himself believes that the victim fell victim to dogs from a forest plantation. On 12 November, Lifshits was detained on suspicion of causing death by negligence, but later the charge was reclassified to providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in death by negligence.

The Investigative Committee of the republic believes that it was his dogs from the industrial base that attacked the 48-year-old resident. Lifshits was placed under house arrest, but later released with restrictions on certain actions. The deceased woman is survived by her husband and daughter.
