Authorities Share Indignation, Plan Gukovo Water Restoration This Weekend

Water supply has been restored in Gukovo, but it is currently being delivered with reduced parameters. The normal operating mode is planned to be achieved this weekend, on January 24 and 25, said Antonina Pshenichnaya, Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Rostov Region, at a press conference at Interfax-South. And the situation should return to «normal course» by Monday.
According to Pshenichnaya, on the evening of January 19, water began flowing to the Kamensky and Krasnosulinsky districts, and then to Zverevo. And today, «water supply is being carried out on schedule.» At 4 a.m. on January 21, water started returning to Gukovo, but with reduced parameters. Reservoirs continue to fill up.
«As of today, in Gukovo, [water supply] is already operational, I can say, in normal mode, but with reduced parameters. Let me explain why. Considering that we are currently experiencing maximum water draw-off, as we have been without it for 7 days. I understand the residents, I share all their indignation. But considering that, I repeat, the water draw-off is high, we will lower the parameters from 11:00 today until 17:00, after 17:00 we will raise them again,» stated Pshenichnaya.
The normal mode will be reached on the weekend, says Pshenichnaya. But in some apartments on upper floors, water may still not be available. This was promised to be «addressed as quickly as possible.» Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of the region Vladimir Revenko stated that «by Monday the situation will enter a normal course.»
Without stable water supply, residents of Gukovo, Zverevo, and settlements in the Kamensky and Krasnosulinsky districts were left as early as January 16 due to a pipeline accident. Water also ran out in stores, and deliveries were insufficient. Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin ordered a criminal case to be initiated. The problem attracted the interest of Vladimir Putin as well. Residents were promised a recalculation of utility bills.
