Authorities deny uncleared roads caused Rostov bus crash

The Rostov administration has refuted the statement by the owner of the bus that crashed into a bus stop, claiming the accident occurred due to roads not cleared of snow. The incident happened the previous morning near the Officers« House at the intersection of Budyonnovsky and Bolshaya Sadovaya streets.
The Rostov administration refers to information from the Rostov Region Traffic Police (GAI). They reported that the driver of bus No. 27, while releasing the handbrake, collided with bus No. 83. Due to the impact, the first bus was thrown into the bus stop and a pole.
«The accident occurred when bus No. 27 was already pulling away from the bus stop. We note that the road near the stop was cleared, as can be seen in photos from the scene,» say the Rostov administration officials.
The version of events refuted by the authorities was earlier voiced in a conversation with 161.RU by Alan Bolataev, director and owner of the Southern Transport Company (YUTK), which operates route No. 27.
«The roadside wasn»t cleared. The bus slammed on the brakes, skidded, and knocked down the bus stop and a pole,« he said.
Bolataev also stated that bus No. 83 was not actually involved in the accident. It was only «lightly grazed.»
