According to the investigation, on January 13, 2026, the man came to the office of the head of the abdominal oncology department at the Murmansk Regional Oncology Dispensary and handed him 200,000 rubles (approximately $2,200 at current rates). This was part of a bribe totaling 800,000 rubles (approximately $8,900 at current rates).

The money was intended for entering a false diagnosis — allegedly of a cancerous disease — into the medical documents of his acquaintance, who is serving a sentence in a correctional colony. Such a diagnosis could have been grounds for applying to the court with a request to release the prisoner due to health conditions.

The court, at the investigator«s request, chose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention.

The crime was detected and prevented by investigators from the Investigative Committee (ICR) together with employees of the Directorate of the Federal Security Service (FSB) for the Murmansk Region. Currently, investigative actions are continuing, and evidence is being collected and secured.

Also, during the investigation, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the official who was intended to receive the bribe.

Recall that an 18-year-old Murmansk woman has become a figure in a case about a terrorist attack.
