Attacker who stabbed customer in Yaroslavl supermarket detained

The suspect in a violent supermarket attack in the city of Yaroslavl has been remanded in custody.
In Yaroslavl, a 39-year-old unemployed man who caused a rampage in a supermarket on 8 March Street has been taken into custody. The attack with scissors at the checkout of a grocery store in the Krasnoperekopsky district occurred on the evening of January 19. The man injured a 55-year-old woman from Yaroslavl.
Three days later, the hooligan was taken into custody. He is charged under the article on hooliganism using an object as a weapon.
«Due to a sudden surge of aggression, he knocked over a display stand with goods in the pre-checkout area, then took household scissors lying near the checkout and struck a 55-year-old customer with them. Other store visitors managed to neutralize the criminal and called the police,» the prosecutor«s office commented.
Taking into account the position of the prosecutor«s representative, the Krasnoperekopsky District Court chose for the accused a preventive measure in the form of detention for 2 months.
Under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment can be up to 7 years of imprisonment.
